Date of birth
[edit]Just raising the question of inaccuracies. This is a piece of text from the entry for Fanny Durack, relating to Mina Wylie.
'In the 1910-11 swimming season, fourteen year old Mina Wylie, beat Durack in the 100 yards breaststroke and the 100 and 220 yards freestyle at the Australian Swimming Championships at Rose Bay.'
If Mina was born in 1891 as stated, she would be 20 ish, not 14. Is the Fanny Durack article wrong, or is the date of birth for Mina Wylie inaccurate?
- Thanks and good spot. I got her date of birth from here as 1891, but there are several contradicting sources including this which mention her being 14 years old in 1912. I'm tempted to go with a DOB of 1898 and assume the first reference was wrong. Article changed accordingly. -- Ian ≡ talk 14:02, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
- Hmmm, on second thoughts I'm not so sure. The photos don't look like a 14 year old, more like a 20 year old, so I'm changing it back to DOB of 1891 as per http://www.wylies.com.au/welcome.html. The photo in the Fanny Durack article has both women standing side by side and looking of similar age. Fanny was born in 1889. -- Ian ≡ talk 14:10, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
