Notable alumni in lead paragraph
[edit]I've removed a list of three alumni from the lead section of the article; and, after another editor reverted my removal, reverted that editor's reversion.
According to MOS:LEAD, "[t]he lead section should briefly summarize the most important points covered in an article". In an article about a school, the famous or semi-famous alumni are certainly not one of the most important points.
The excised list included only three of the six people listed in the article's "Notable alumni" section. No reason was given, nor is there any obvious reason, for the inclusion of those three and the exclusion of the others. I suspect that these three were added by editors who felt that they were particularly important-- and I emphasize "felt": I suspect that this was a matter of the editors' personal opinions, and not based on any kind of universally accepted quantitative measure of notability. This suspicion is supported by the fact that the IP editor who reverted my excision of the list had previously added a name thereto, preceded by "and most notably..." without any kind of citation to support the statement.
