[edit]The source I have for Soviet military districts giver the dates of formation and disbandment for the post-Civil war also. Would you want a separate section for that, or combine the pre-WWII data in one section?--Mrg3105 (talk) 05:44, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, I'm not getting 33 MDs by end of 1945. Could it be the 33 refers to total MDs that ever existed? Here is my list

Adding to existing MD articles
[edit]Buckshot06, what can you recommend on this? For example, do I add pre-1945 commanders to the existing list, or to a separate list?
Also I saw one MD points to a Front, and the Siberian MD to Siberia.
Besides that I would be happirr if the articles were broken up into sections for the pre-WWII, and WWII periods aside from the existing Cold war and RF sections. In turn the Fronts formed from the MDs will then point to their own pages, but as I mentioned, I think with fronts it would be a good idea to have separate pages for different formations since the pointers to operations will go from here.
So I see replicating the hierarchy as TVD --> MD/Front/Fleet --> Operations (because of the need to have some description of the operation without getting into the Armies)--> Armies/Flotillas/URs --> divisions/ garrisons/naval bases?-- mrg3105mrg3105 07:09, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- Look more closely. The ZKVO page covers the Front, the District, and the post-91 Group of Forces all in the same place. The Siberian Military District page points to the Siberian MD. In general, all information about commanders of districts goes in the district page - I don't think you need to ask me whether they should have seperate lists or not. Fronts? Just doublecheck the page doesn't exist - I think the only Front that doesn't exist so far is the 2nd Far East Front, and maybe the temporary ones - and add the information at the front page. If the page gets massive (it won't) we can think of splitting it for different formations, but it is not required and would be confusing at the moment.
