Quote from father's colleague
[edit]I half remember a quote attributed to one of the court officials who worked with Giffard père. On hearing that Miles had murdered his father, he said something like "What took him so long?" I'll see if I can find a source for it - I'm sure it was in a book on Cornish crimes which with any luck my sister will have. DuncanHill (talk) 00:50, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
- Ah found it, in "West Country Murders" by Nicola Sly and John Van der Kiste. One member of the legal profession on being told Giffard senior was murdered said "About time too", and the Deputy Chief Constable, Reggie Rowland, when told by PC Mutton about the murder said "Serves the bugger right". Uncle
[edit]It seems that Miles's uncle was General Sir George Giffard, who offered to help with his defence. DuncanHill (talk) 01:45, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
