Why Mildthryth

[edit]

What is the rational behind using the Mildthryth form as the page title? It would seem like very much the minority version - or rather perhaps one of the Old English versions. In terms of modern writings about the person, 'Mildrith' seems to be at least the academic consensus. (Rollason, 1982 and Hollis, 1998 have stuck entirely to that in their very thorough texts.) There are lots of popular examples of 'Mildred', including church dedications etc, but this is only used by one of the cited references. I would suggest that unless there are convincing modern sources promoting this spelling, it should be moved over to 'Mildrith' (and retain all the alternatives in the text, plus redirects.
