Notability
[edit]So why is the subject notable? This pages reads too much like a promotional or personal webpage. A number of issues with putting citation index counts in articles were discussed at Talk:Steve Shnider.Arcfrk (talk) 01:55, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not sure this point has been addressed so far William M. Connolley (talk) 20:19, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
- I tend to agree there is nothing here that makes him particularly notable. I have had many stimulating conversations with him in the past, so I really hope not to cause offense. He is a good mathematician, definitely. But there are a host of stronger mathematicians that do not have pages. I suspect this is not an oversight as much as they do not meet the notability criteria. "there are a host of stronger mathematicians that do not have pages" Maybe they should. I prefer a positive approach. I personally am very interested in learning about Katz. He is influential and very outspoken about foundational topics. ---Dagme (talk) 10:34, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
AFD
[edit]I PRODed this, but User:Tkuvho removed it [1] for reasons he gave here [2]. That didn't seem enough to me, so I've put it for AFD William M. Connolley (talk) 10:48, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Much Needed Cleanup
[edit]This article is a mess. I've deleted all of the non-encyclopedic information, like citations counts for specific articles, journals he's published in, and math genealogy (added template to Math Genealogy Project page, as is standard for all mathematician bios), etc. Still needs more work. Agricola44 (talk) 21:34, 20 May 2011 (UTC).
Selected publications
[edit]The "selected publications" list doesn't look very selected to me. Can we narrow it down to 5-10, and say something nontrivial about the ones that are included and why? —David Eppstein (talk) 17:10, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
