Re: Maintenance tags

[edit]

@Mahamagadh:@Arjayay:

Hi, Mahamagadh! A few things:

  • 1. The lead of an article should normally not cite anything: The lead is meant to be a summary of the contents of an article, so usually the content of the lead is reflected in the article body. Also you generally cite information unlikely to be challenged, so basic things like "Paris is the capital of France" don't need to be cited.
  • 2. Plot summaries of films indeed need to be 400-700 words.
  • 3. Wikipedia states that under most circumstances a direct social media post itself should not be used as a source. However using a newspaper article talking about social media is okay. The News Minute should be a reliable source.

About adding the facebook report in Critical reception

[edit]

Thank you sir for your guide. Two questions I have

  1. This Ref https://www.thenewsminute.com/article/critical-posts-nivins-mikhael-removed-facebook-film-buffs-slam-intolerance-95325 when I go through it says that "Promotion Team of Movie blocked the facebook group". This is what the news article is all about. Here I contradict as It's the right of facebook to block a facebook group. I contradict if a film promotion team have any right to block a facebook group. As I am reading wikipedia from many years thought of contributing to it to make it a better place. Shall We add a content citing to this ref. Also I found the Critical Reception part of movie some negatively exaggerated, words like negative review was added, rating like .5, .1 on a scale of 5 been added so I made it precise by citing a more reliable source and changed negative review to mixed review as Times of India gave 2.5, Hindu also gave average, New Indian Express 4/5, Indian Express .5/5. added all these reviews. Please suggest if this is okay.
  2. Plot is poorly written, wanted to make this article better for wikipedia and for end user also, request your suggestion how to write the plot better and how I can help wikipedia in removing these flags.

Thanks. Mahamagadh (talk) 02:51, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • 1. What happened is that the movie team pointed out that the post violated copyright; Facebook has a ban on copyrighted material, and the team did that to have the post removed. Content on Wikipedia is added not necessarily whether it is right or wrong, but rather whether Wikipedia:Reliable sources (meaning published newspapers, books, academic journals, and magazines) have reported on the events.
  • 2. In regards to the WP:WEIGHT of the reviews, it should be based upon overall how critics felt about the film. If most critics liked the film, positive reviews should have more space. If critics mostly disliked the film, the negative reviews should have more space.
  • 3. In which way is the plot poorly written?

  1. Thank You WhisperToMe for your guide.
  2. About Plot, I re-paragraphed, earlier it was written as one paragraph. Still some grammar mistakes are there. In part of last two paragraphs there is no space between two sentences. One space shall be there after full stop to start a new sentence. Few minor issues found.
  3. What is still required to remove the maintenance tags, please guide, would take my time to fix.

Thank You Mahamagadh (talk) 02:29, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Whenever you feel the issues are dealt with, you may remove the tags. If someone adds the tags back, please start a discussion with the person on this talk page ({{ping|Username}} may be used) and continue the dialog as per Wikipedia:Dispute resolution WhisperToMe (talk) 09:18, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
