I'm very familiar with Middlemount having lived there for over 20 years from when the town was less than one year old. I left about five years ago. I would like to correct some of the information that I know to be incorrect but it is tied into other information that I dont know anything about ( I have never heard of it in fact but I may well be accurate) The material I'm talking about is this passage ... I'll put my changes and corrections in italics.

"The German Creek mine (or Capcoal), German Creek is the name of the first Open Cut It was also the name of the "Project" during construction. As the underground mines came on stream they were given different names ie: Central Colliery, Southern Colliery. Later the open cut mine expanded to new sites and they were given names such as German Creek East. This pit was Quite a long way from the rest of the operations... 23kms? But the coal was hauled back to the German Creek wash plant to be processed and railed. All the coal from all of the German Creek Mines was washed and railed from the one wash plant.

Capcoal was the operating name for Capricorn Coal, the group that started and operated the operation for some years. all of the mines at that time were known as Capcoal mines. Eventually Capcoal was bought out by Anglo Coal.

I don't know anything about the rest of this post There is no single German Creek mine so I don't know which mine is being referred to as the notable one. I could put my post in to the post to correct it but I dont know how to tie that in with what is already there that I don't know about. Ie: the next part of the paragraph

operated by Anglo Coal, is notable as having the deepest longwall coal mine in Queensland, and also for operating Australia's only 'thin-seam' underground coal mine, using technology from the USA. It has five producing underground mines (Central, Southern, Bundoora, Grasstree and Aquila) and two open cut (open pit) mines (Oak Park and Lake Lindsay).
