A wiki page about the Spalax also exists here: [[1]]. One could probably redirect to the other.

The following is somewhat inflammatory: "The involvement of interferon in the so-called concerted cell death of Spalax cells via necrosis was highly criticized. Serious questions have been raised on the inconsistent methodology used that led to this speculation." There is a citation following the first sentence, but the reference was a popular-press layman's article which no longer exists. It is not clear whether a description of the criticism was present in that article. The accusation is rather stale; the articles related to the interferon hypothesis are 10 years old. Meanwhile, subsequent publications have supported the hypothesis, e.g., Zhao et al. "Transposon-triggered innate immune response confers cancer resistance to the blind mole rat."
