[edit]I'm unsure if the errors in this article are due to vandalism or a mistake.. but the midcarpal joint cannot include the navicular bone, because that is a tarsal bone of the foot. In answer to your question, the scaphoid was once called the navicular fo the hand whilst the trapezium is also called the greater multangular. Because these are antiquated nomencluture, i have changed them. If you see these mistakes still, please do change them.
