Associated Acts

Just because people are listed under "associated acts" is no reason to remove their names from the article itself. I'm not even sure there is justification for putting a whole bunch of names under associated acts in a case like this. Roker was a sideman in a lot of groups. Ray Brown, for example, must have been a sideman with dozens or hundreds of different groups over his long career. That would be no reason for listing all the leaders of the bands under "associated acts." (Just a hypothetical case here, to make my point.) There must be a rule for this, somewhere, or at least some kind of guideline. Probably there should be some special, extra reason for putting someone under associated acts. --Alan W (talk) 22:45, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For the record, in case anybody is interested, there was a long discussion about this a couple of years ago. But I'm not sure it has much relevance to jazz, as some musicians might perform with hundreds of pickup bands over the course of a long career.
