Infobox and lede

[edit]

@GhostRiver: Please see my comments below. I made all the necessary changes I think. Again, I apologize for the delay. I thought it had not yet been seven days until I realized it had actually been nine days since the last comment. ChrisTofu11961 (talk) 00:59, 15 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Per WP:ALLMUSIC, Some editors question the accuracy of these websites for biographical details and recommend more reliable sources when available. This reliable source Says that her birthday is actually June 17, 1983, not 1984.
  • Similarly, the BMI reference doesn't explicitly show that "Candace Mycale Guyton" is Mickey Guyton, but this article does.
  • Per WP:INFOBOXREF, references in infoboxes should be avoided when possible. I would move the references on her full name and her birthday to the lede prose.
  • Per WP:ALLMUSIC, Allmusic should not be used for genre classifications.
  • The word "country" is used four times in the first three sentences. Try "Her material incorporates elements of contemporary country and country pop. Raised in Texas, Guyton was exposed to various types of music at a young age, notably country." → "Raised in Texas, Guyton was exposed to various types of music at a young age, and her material subsequently incorporates elements of contemporary country and country pop."
  • "Moving to Nashville, Tennessee in 2011,"
  • WL the first instance of extended play
  • "In 2015, her debut single was released on Capitol titled "Better Than You Left Me."" → "In 2015, Capitol released her debut single, titled "Better Than You Left Me."
  • "top 40 of the country chart" → "number 34 on the US Country Airplay chart
  • "her second extended play was released" → "her second self-titled EP was released" per MOS:EASTEREGG
  • No comma needed after "In 2020, Guyton released the single"
  • No comma needed after "Dean Brody on the song"
  • Black is inconsistently capitalized throughout the lede; it's mostly capitalized, but not on the last line
  • Per MOS:LEADCITE, the two references in the lede about the song "Boys" should be removed, as they are already detailed in the body.

  • "Guyton was born in Arlington, Texas and was the second eldest of four children to parents Phyllis Ann Roddy and Michael Eugene Guyton." → "Guyton was born in Arlington, Texas, the second oldest of four children born to Phyllis Ann Roddy and Michael Eugene Guyton."
  • "She started attending public school as a young child. However, the neighborhood in which Guyton lived disliked the idea of black people attending public school." → "She was initially enrolled in a local public school, but faced racial discrimination from other families in the neighborhood."
  • "Despite attending private school, Guyton stated that she still faced discrimination; she stated in a 2020 interview" → "Despite this change, Guyton continued to experience racism, stating in a 2020 interview"

2016-present

[edit]
  • "In 2016, Guyton was nominated by the Academy of Country Music for the "New Female Vocalist of the Year" award." → "In 2016, Guyton was nominated for New Female Vocalist of the Year at the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards."
