the xkcd comic seems to be clearly referencing this song, subverting one of the subjects discussion of musical 'art' to a song widely regarded as a relatively superficial... perhaps this can be added to an 'In pop culture' section?Cander0000 (talk) 06:37, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Spanish-language version

I have no idea who sang it, nor how to look for it, but there absolutely was a Spanish-language recording of the song. In the 1980s, we had a housecleaner who used to turn the house intercom/radio to a Spanish-language station, and I heard this version on that station; I remember it because I was struck by the excess of syllables in the translation, much like when cartoons do parodies of Spanish-language dubbing. As my Spanish at the time was far more limited than it is today, I've no idea whether the lyrics were direct translations or varied from the original. Toni Basil herself did a Spanish version of the song, so that may be the one you are thinking of. A 5:11 arrangement can be found on her 2006 greatest hits album Mickey: The Very Best of Toni Basil and a 3:37 version is on the 1997 greatest hits album Best of Toni Basil: Mickey & Other Love SongsBrett Dunbar (talk) 12:22, 20 August 2016 (UTC)

Music Video

Didn't there used to be section about the music video? - Which was especially notable as it previously mentioned that this was the first choreographed video (I can't think of any earlier ones). There was also comment about one of the cheerleading moves being now banned for safety reasons - I believe it was the one used in the opening scene. Also, there was a reference to her age at the time (39 or 40) - whilst I appreciate these days that age is unremarkable, but in 1982, it would have been very old for a pop-star (especially for their first hit). And lastly there was an alternate video (in the same style), produced for the BBC, which had an accompanying backing band?
