[edit]This is my first page...message says article needs additional references but I have referenced Cybergrass.com - a well known internet publication for the Bluegrass world, SPBGMA website which is one of the two largest bodies that give music awards exclusively to Bluegrass Artists. IBMA - the other body that does this. I have referenced CMT which is a well known source for biographies on many country music artists. I referenced Blue Circle Records website for the Daughter's of Bluegrass Series. I referenced Wayne Rice's Bluegrass Bios which is a well known resource for radio DJs. Any suggestions here?
Notability is in question - There are many other bluegrass artist with pages on wikipedia who are not nearly as well known and have not won the awards Michelle Nixon has won. I just finished reading an article on Nothing' Fancy which I would consider a comparable group in Notability as Michelle Nixon and Drive. I could list scores of other bands on here I have never heard of and I am a Bluegrass DJ. Unless a Bluegrass artist receives a Grammy there is no higher music award they can receive than a SPBGMA or IBMA award and Michelle Nixon has been awarded both.
Appreciate any editing for grammar, etc.
Have added a few more references. Thanks —Preceding SlimJim65 comment added by 15:34, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
Michelle Nixon is notable to the Bluegrass Genre. She is an accomplished singer, song writer and has contributed much in this decade to bluegrass music. Her inclusion in the Daughters of Bluegrass and the subsequent award recognition indicates a female artist at the top of the genre. Additionally, three times nominated and once selected as female vocalist of the year by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass in America is equivalent people choice award for bluegrass music. This article should be kept and included in Wikipedia content.—Preceding elwil1 comment added by 18:21, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
There are enough outside verfications for this article, exceeding many others. In checking other bluegrass artists in wikipedia they have fewer accomplishments, fewer links and articles and few awards and nominations. Compartaviley this individual exceeds the standard that is precedent. —Preceding elwil1 comment added by 13:16, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
