Redirect problems
[edit]Wikipedia has articles for two persons named "Michel Menard." I have recently expanded the article for Michel Branamour Menard (last name spelled with or without "l'accent" over the "e" in Menard). Both persons are native francophones, though Michel Branamour Menard was also a naturalized citizen of the United States, thus living in an Anglophone culture. Furthermore, many people might not know his middle name or even middle initial. I did not until know his middle initial until recently.
There is a redirect from that automatically takes all "Michel Menard" searches (with or without accent) to Michel Menard the French Assemblyman. I attempted to fix this by changing "Michel Menard" to redirect to this ambiguation pages in order to allow the reader to see link and short description to both Michel Menard articles. Unfortunately, my change has made it impossible to reach the page for the French Assemblyman through a referential loop: my redirect changes the reference of that page to the disambiguation page.
I am looking for assistance in making any changes necessary so that WP users can easily find both of these articles. Second, if renaming a page is necessary, I am asking that another editor make that decision. WP renaming policy states that editors with no interest in the article make the move. My contributions to the Michel Branamour Menard article would constitute interest, so I should not be making this move.Oldsanfelipe (talk) 18:14, 2 December 2014 (UTC)oldsanfelipe
- I think this is resolved. I did not need to rename any pages.Oldsanfelipe (talk) 21:59, 2 December 2014 (UTC)oldsanfelipe
