Birth name

[edit]

The only birth record for her shows her name to be Michaela Ewuraba O Collinson, mother's name Collinson; therefore it is reasonable to conclude that the 'Boakye' part of the name she used before becoming known as 'Michaela Coel' is her father's name. The 'O' is not a separate name; it is an initial, simply to indicate the presence of another name in the absence of sufficient space to include the whole thing. Given electoral register records for 'Michaela Boakye-Collinson' also show a 'Jasmine Boakye-Collinson', but there is no birth record to match this individual, her elder sister has to be the Jasmin (sic) Odura Quainoa(-)Collinson b. 1985 at Islington (there being no other options available in UK birth records- Note: one record shows the 'Q' as indicative of a second middle name, whereas another hyphenates both as surname; mother's surname is given as 'Quainoa-Collinson' on both). None of the sources provided in this article give 'Moses' as a second part of her first name; although IMDB shows her to have been credited in 2010 under this name, there is no evidence that it reflects her legal name in any meaningful sense whatsoever- performers are often credited in humorous or otherwise significant ways, without the credit being of any legal weight. At any rate, the birth record is clear enough, and must be considered acceptable as a source since it's included here in the first place, presumably. All the other occurrences of 'Michaela-Moses Ewuraba O Boakye-Collinson' seem to be journalists simply looking at Wikipedia for the information. Perhaps one of them should ask what the 'O.' stands for, that'd be some actual use. Perhaps 'Odura', like her sister, if it's a family name? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.2.123.69 (talk) 00:12, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your original research is not acceptable. See WP:SYNTHESIS and WP:PRIMARY. 91.125.146.227 (talk) 01:38, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The talk page is a perfectly acceptable place for a comment of the sort I placed here. You should refrain from presuming to instruct others, given that you too are merely a nameless IP address with no real record of Wikipedia contributions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.2.123.69 (talk) 02:02, 4 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That was Sitush (talk · contribs). I was editing from a mobile, which is a rare thing for me and I couldn't figure out how to log in. My comment referred to the recent edits on the article, for which the opening comment in this thread appeared to be an inadequate rationale. You should refrain from criticising people just because they are editing anonymously. - Sitush (talk) 04:02, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If, as appears, based on your preceding comment, to be the case, I was mistaken in my conclusion that the nature of your initial admonition- which I considered rather condescending and brusque, to be honest- was predicated upon my own anonymous posting, then I will gladly concede the point and apologise for the upset I seem to have caused you. One point that must be made, however: the source to which my 'original research' referred was in fact not added to the article by me; I merely looked at the existing source and altered the details to reflect what it stated, given that it appeared to be an acceptable source, no-one having removed it. The discrepancy between what was being presented as a valid source- viz. the birth record- and the article's content was what I found puzzling, hence the alteration I presumed to make, clearly, as it turned out, unsatisfactorily. In hopes that you can avoid similar unpleasant encounters in the future, I would suggest locating the original contributor of that source and contacting them to dissuade them from inappropriate additions to articles. As I note you have, since our 'disagreement' here, gone to the trouble of checking a number of other articles to which I have made edits- which, I must say, carries rather a menacing implication, as far as I see it- I will cease contributing (however little you may feel I have contributed), as I appear to have incurred the disapprobation of an editor who possesses some measure of influence here. My apologies again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.2.123.69 (talk) 13:41, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I can be brusque, yes. Trying to edit on mobile from a hospital bed doesn't help. I've cleaned up a few things but you should not take it personally - it is not as if I have concocted some sort of rationale to stymie all of your efforts. If you believe that I have unreasonably followed you around then you do have a recourse via a report at WP:ANI. I probably won't be editing much for some time again, so you have a clear run there. And for the sake of clarity, I have no more influence here than you; please do not think that you are less "worthy" or whatever. You are not. - Sitush (talk) 00:32, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Transgendered?

[edit]

I was under the impression that Michaela Coel was transgender, is that not the case? 2604:2000:E01C:7E00:FDB7:C0A7:E9A3:2915 (talk) 01:05, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
