Harry Potter???
[edit]OK, let's see a source for that. I can't rule it out as definite nonsense, given the diversity of his work to date, but I can't find any sources, so I've removed it for now. --KJBracey 14:33, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
Space comedy attempt
[edit]In 2005, director Michael Winterbottom and actor Steve Coogan sought to film a comedy in space. Winterbottom, who had collaborated with cinematographer Alwin H. Kuchler and production designer Mark Tildesley in the past, found out that the two crew members were working on director Danny Boyle's Sunshine in London. Winterbottom contacted producer Andrew Macdonald and inquired about the possibility of filming his comedy on the set at night when Sunshine filming was finished for the day. Macdonald initially agreed, but due to concern about damage to the set, the producer told Winterbottom that he could use the set after Sunshine completed filming. Winterbottom, Coogan, and Coogan's collaborator Patrick Marber worked to flesh out the story for the space comedy. The studio Paramount Pictures had expressed interest in financing the comedy, but as time passed, the set was not made available to Winterbottom, despite Macdonald's assurance.[1]

Deletion of 3/4 of the page
[edit]A brand new user without a username or any editing history deleted about 3/4 of the entire page on 18 June 2023. The user gave, as their reasons: "Changed page to fit Wikipedia standards, removed uncited material and self promotional content, and added neutral tone." I've contributed extensively to this page for the past 18 years, and I think it's wrong for all that useful information to be simply deleted. I'm in the process of finding citations for all previously uncited material. It may take a day or two. There is no self-promotional content, I use my real name as my username here and I have no connection to Mr. Winterbottom. I'm simply a fan of his work. My only connection is that I shook his hand at a Q&A after a screening once, over 15 years ago. I simply enjoy his work and update this page every time a new project is announced, and have done so for almost 20 years. As for neutral tone, that's a fair point. Much of the material about his early works is text I wrote around 2005, when the rules here were more loose. A lot of it is too much like film criticsm, including opinion. I'll go through all that text and edit it to make it neutral.Jamesluckard (talk) 07:49, 21 June 2023 (UTC)
- I finished editing the existing material, removing all editorializing and adding citations for any uncited material or statements. I hope the revised version meets the current standards. I also divided the filmography up by decade, to make it clearer. Jamesluckard (talk) 09:06, 21 June 2023 (UTC)
