Update to criticism of Wigston

[edit]

Wigston's career has been marked by the dismal performance of the new MFTS Flying Training System, the poor condition of RAF family housing, and the needless scrapping of the Leading and Senior Aircraftsman/woman ranks. 167.98.253.66 (talk) 07:53, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

These sound like MoD failures, or they could be failures by the Government to fund these services properly. I cannot find any sources that say Wigston was personally at fault. Dormskirk (talk) 10:48, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriate section heading

[edit]

An IP has introduced a section heading "Leaked Transcript Scandal". I would suggest that a more neutral heading might be "Criticism over diversity targets" or something similar. The media, in their quest for news, forget that in 2019, when Wigston was appointed, the big issue was discrimination and bullying in the armed forces. See here and plenty more. Now amended. Dormskirk (talk) 09:01, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
With these edits I previously inserted a background sentence which explained the context i.e. lack of diversity in the RAF. That information has now been relegated to a clause in brackets later in the paragraph. The IP said in an edit summary that my background sentence contained "inaccurate coverage and whitewashing". The information came from several sources including a response to a FOI request. I propose restoring my earlier sentence unless the IP can satisfactorily explain why it is inaccurate.
