Fair use rationale for Image:JeffreyDonovan MichaelWesten.jpg
[edit]Image:JeffreyDonovan MichaelWesten.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Family Business and Yogurt?
[edit]My memory is no Monk, but I remember seeing yogurt in the fridge when Sam says the line "I save your ass in the warehouse, the least you could do is have some decent beer in here." or something along those lines. I'll check on the DVD. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.188.30.59 (talk) 21:03, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Age/Work History
[edit]His wiki says he has been a spy for 10 years but in the pilot episode he states he had trained and worked with his mentor for 15 year. Michael should be around 36-40 years old assuming he has been a spy for 15 years. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.137.171.84 (talk) 04:00, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
He served in the Army prior to commencing free lance work in the intelligence community as is revealed in the latter parts of Season 2 and parts of Season 3.
His license in "Past and Future Tense" says he was born in 1/07/1967. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.229.214.41 (talk) 05:22, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Name
[edit]In the 1997 film Behind Enemy Lines, the CIA spy, which is the main character, is named Mike Westen. Coincidence? I think not. 67.142.172.31 (talk) 01:39, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
- - I doubt it. The main character in that movie is Michael Weston (-ton). In Burn Notice the main character is Michael Westen (-ten). Also, that movie and S01E01 of BN are at least 10 years apart. --124.197.33.32 (talk) 14:13, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Need a Picture
[edit]It would be nice if there were a picture of Michael Westen because there is one for Sam and Fi. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.38.203.205 (talk) 16:11, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
Military Background
[edit]Does anyone know exactly what Micheal's full military background is? We know he was an Army Ranger, however the rest is unclear.
Micheal demonstrates the following skills throughout the series:
- Hand to hand combat training
- Foreign Language Proficiency
- Creating improvised explosives/Demolitions
- A knowledge of intelligence tactics and procedures
- Various weapons knowledge and proficiency
- Scuba qualification
- Operating alone without traditional support in foreign countries
- Proficiency with tradecraft, such as lockpicking, breaking and entering, etc.
Micheal's training with scuba equipment, weapons, foreign language proficiency, and hand to hand combat training strongly suggest that he was former Special Forces, as they have various programs training soldiers in scuba diving, foreign languages are a mandatory part of Special Forces training, as well as operating/living in a foreign country. Also, Special Forces are alluded to numerous times throughout the series.
However, Micheal's explosives/demolitions training is slightly less indicative of Special Forces, and more so of Delta Force. Traditional Special Operations demolitions training is how to use military grade explosives and/or make them from chemicals; Delta Force trains operatives on how to make explosives from common household items. Also, Micheal's training in lockpicking, dead drops, etc is also characteristic of Delta Force.
