Spelling of last name

[edit]

Joheadblues just revised this article, replacing every instance of “Jeffrey” with “Jeffery”. I had never considered that the last name might be misspelled, so I went looking for verification. I went to my local bookstore and checked out the music section. There were two books on Hendrix, one of which was:

  • Lawrence, Sharon (2006). Jimi Hendrix: The Intimate Story of a Betrayed Musical Legend. ISBN 006056301X. {{cite book}}: Unknown parameter |month= ignored (help)

(I failed to take good notes, and I can't figure out the identity of the other one.) Both books used the spelling “Michael Jeffery”. I am therefore going to presume that “Jeffery” is the correct spelling and move this article.

There is a link to a whole bunch of information about Jeffery at this link [1] I have no idea of the veracity of the information myself, but it seems plausible. Pouru 11:22, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality?

[edit]

Was he British or American? I just dug around and couldn't find any info on the Web. Samuel Webster (talk) 18:15, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Factual Errors

[edit]

Bravo Wikipedia. This entry is very useful in exposing a very notorious figure in rock history and a very high-profile, scandalous murder. However there are some serious factual errors in the main entry. First of all the London Ambulance Service recorded all emergency calls for legal reasons. The 11:18am phone call for the ambulance came from a public telephone booth across the street from the Samarkand Hotel. This was also admitted privately by Terry Slater to Kathy Etchingham in a private telephone conversation 20 years ago. Of course, this can't reach the Wikipedia level because it isn't officially documented, but it is true. It was the notorious liar Monika Dannemann who wrote in her book that the phone call originated from the Samarkand only because she needed to conceal the fact it came from the phone booth and why.

Next, I have personally spoken to Tappy Wright recently and he says the confession happened somewhere in December or January 1972-73. About 3 months before Jeffery was killed in the plane crash. Some people believe Jeffery is still alive and faked his death. I personally don't believe this, however if it is true then that pretty much tells the story on the veracity of both his depth as in intelligence agent and murder of Hendrix.

I can't go into the details of why Tappy Wright's admission is problematic because it would spoil my future work, however I can say that he is credible and the murder theory still stands despite the alleged evidence against it. Tappy was close enough to Jeffery that he trusted him. I also can't go in to detail on the insurance policy, but I can say with confidence there's more to it than has been shown and Jeffery was a shrewd enough spook to use this pretext to cover the real motives. The doubt offered in this article does not refute the real reasons. Both Levine and Marron were Jeffery apologists and were not privy to Jeffery's real actions that he kept hidden according to his intelligence training. Especially Levine who was deep enough into Jeffery's dirty money laundrying to be seriously involved. To give a good example of Levine's credibility he denies any involvement in that money laundrying - even though it was witnessed by many Jeffery office employees - including Tappy Wright. Yet Levine is prominently offered in Wikipedia as a witness against Tappy's credibility.

The next mistake is a commonly made one. Dr Teare performed his autopsy on Monday the 21st of September. Dr Bannister had removed all the wine in the hospital on the 18th. However there was still 400ml left in one lung that Dr Teare registered as "free fluid". The mistake the author makes is the wine that had been removed three days earlier by Dr Bannister would not be available for detection on the 21st at autopsy. Also, the large amount of wine witnessed by Dr Bannister vs the relatively low blood alcohol content is forensic proof of murder as the article vaguely suggests.

Dr Bannister is the key to all this and his being struck-off for billing fraud is something that 50% of all doctors would probably lose their license over if applied evenly and to the same degree as it was to Dr Banister. No, Dr Bannister's legal problems are typical of credible witnesses to political assassinations. If indeed we were looking for a lack of credibility we need look no further than the British government's non-interest in his medical witnessing. Not only did they ignore Dr Bannister's serious forensic witnessing in their alleged 1993 re-investigation, but they also failed to seriously investigate Dr Seifert's witnessing as well as the numerous hospital personnel who also participated. There's a serious lack of credibility here but it is not on Dr Bannister's side. Dr Bannister's very real witnessing was defamed in the same fashion Jimi's drug use was used to conceal his murder.

While I praise the entry the author's last sentence seriously damages his objectivity. Hospital emergency room doctors often attempt to revive otherwise lifeless patients and sometimes succeed. Part of the reason they spent so much time on Jimi is because it took a long time to suction the tremendous amount of wine from his lungs. Sharp people will see this is forensic testimony that an unnaturally large amount of wine existed in Hendrix's lungs that defied innocent explanation. Again, while I praise the author for making the entry I suggest his unawareness of the spelling of Jeffery's name along with these other basic factual errors evidence a lack of more educated understanding on why the murder allegations are credible and have yet to be exposed to the level they deserve. Was Jeffery Jewish?

[edit]

I'd like to know. He was an associate of Don Arden who was Jewish.

...or are such questions allowed?

It'd be a shame if the unproven and unprovable murder allegation overwhelmed this article. I recognise that BLP is not a factor here but WP:NPOV definitely is. --John (talk) 22:51, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I came across this article yesterday having GA reviewed Canadian drug charges and trial of Jimi Hendrix and remarked that while getting articles to GA and FA is great, sometimes it might be preferable to have a better average quality of articles on a topic, and cited this and Chas Chandler as examples. I'm sure the regular Hendrix editors can whip this into shape - I personally don't have any decent sources to hand. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:44, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Jeffrey was an elusive figure that the reliable Hendrix sources don't say much about. Its my understanding that there are only a few pictures of him and that most of his life is shrouded in mystery if not myth. Based on the little that I do know about him, I seriously doubt that this article could be expanded to GA level, but the nonsense about his having murdered Hendrix is at best a matter for WP:FRINGE. I wasn't thinking of even going that far - just C class would do for now. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 07:42, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
