Clarifying my bio - Michael Gartenberg

[edit]

Hi, This is Michael Gartenberg. While I deeply respect Wikipedia convention and protocol, when this page was brought to my attention, I noticed that it was both incomplete and inaccurate. As opposed to editing the page directly, I will use the discussion forum to correct and clarify. I hope that someone will use these updated sources to correct and clarify the entry. Thanks. Michael

I am no longer employed at Interpret LLC. http://gartenblog.net/2010/02/23/life-is-a-series-of-hellos-and-goodbyes/

I am currently a partner at Altimeter Group. http://www.altimetergroup.com/2010/02/welcome-michael-gartenberg.html

My official bio can be found at Altimeter's website here http://www.altimetergroup.com/about/michael-gartenberg-partner

In addition, I write opinion columns for Engadget, SlashGear and Computerworld. Archives of my columns can be found below. The columns represent my own personal opinion and are not reflective of Altimter Group, my partners or any past employer. You may agree or disagree with my opinions and I welcome discourse either way.

In the Winter of 2007, I left my position at Jupiter Research to work at Microsoft. My job lasted exactly three weeks when I was welcomed back to Jupiter Research where I remained until the company was acquired by Forrester. My title was enthusiast evangelist. I am not currently employed by Microsoft. The details of my short employment and departure can be found here. In general, I do not list my employment at Microsoft on my official bio or CV due to the short period of time I worked there. I have taken longer vacations. I believe mentioning my employment without the context of the three term of the relationship and that I was welcomed back to Jupiter Research distorts the importance the position played in my career. http://news.cnet.com/8301-10784_3-6165381-7.html

For those interested, Altimeter Group's disclosure policy can be found here. http://www.altimetergroup.com/disclosure

In addition to Altimeter, Interpret and Jupiter Research, I was also employed by Gartner. http://www.gartner.com/AnalystBiography?authorId=7203

I am also ranked by TechnoBabble among the top 50 most influential analyst bloggers. http://technobabble2dot0.wordpress.com/2009/11/30/top-analyst-blogs/

I am also the only analyst ranked in the top 10 of both most influential as well as engaging analysts on Twitter according to Edelman’s TweetLevel. http://technobabble2dot0.wordpress.com/2010/02/22/top-analyst-tweeters-via-tweetlevel/

I have tagged the article outdated, as clearly there have been many bio updates. Widefox (talk) 12:28, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have updated the biography information to be current. Jsnell (talk) 17:15, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed

[edit]

Michael Gartenberg has noted below that much of the information in his biography is out of date, which is correct. I have not yet had time to edit his biography for accuracy or neutrality. His bio seems to have been crafted by people who have a bias against Microsoft, and have created a non-neutral point of view in describing Gartenberg and his work. GlennFleishman (talk) 19:23, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly I have refactored your comment to be placed below to preserve chronology. Please follow this convention in talk pages, as it is easier to understand the conversation.
Secondly, what is disputed in the article by Michael or you? All I see above is a request to update information. Please detail what is disputed, as the heading of your message here.
Thirdly, please detail any editorial bias you see in the article, rather than focussing on editors - see WP:AGF .
Fouthly, your comment was added closely after Michael's, do you have any affiliation with him?
Finally, I will now review past edits to see what has been going on, and ensure the WP BLP standard is upheld Widefox (talk) 12:28, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality, update, POV

[edit]

I have updated the article, trying to replace previous material putting in better context as per update from Michael above, and have called for expansion to improve the balance of biography coverage, and tagged that currently this is so. In case there is any further question of POV, I have tagged to be checked. Widefox (talk) 13:38, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Due to lack of added content, I thought best to condense to one work section, and inline quotes, removing the old tags which should have been addressed now. Widefox; talk 10:38, 19 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
