Use of the documentary "Heval" as a reference
[edit]Hi - Revirvlkodlaku I used "Heval" as a reference - this documentary interviewed two senior KPG commanders, who backed Enright's story. The reference was removed - if this was improperly formatted, or if the reference is no good, could someone please advise? Thanks. I assume we can use a documentary as a reference, though there isn't an cite template for visual editing. Deathlibrarian (talk) 07:11, 5 October 2021 (UTC)
- I found the reference format for multi media, and used that, all good! Deathlibrarian (talk) 08:52, 5 October 2021 (UTC)
- Revirvlkodlaku Could you please advise what is actually wrong with the citation? That way I can fix it, thank you. Deathlibrarian (talk) 22:42, 5 October 2021 (UTC)

- Hi Deathlibrarian, thanks for your measured response. The issue I see (and I could be totally wrong about this) is that the reference you're adding for Heval is not clickable, which means that someone would have to watch the entire film (somewhere; it isn't clear where one can access it) in order to verify the claim you are making about senior KPG commanders. I don't think this passes for a proper reference on Wikipedia (again, I could be wrong). Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 00:24, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
- Cheers Revirvlkodlaku - I used the template as provided here, and matched it with the example, so yes, that should be a correct reference. I haven't seen any protocol about it needing to be clickable, (not that I am that familiar with multimedia references) do you know where you read that? The wiki template doesn't have a pinpoint reference option, so yes, they would need to watch the whole doco to find the verification. The template does have a URL, so I can add a link to the website for it, which means they could go there to access it - I will do that, no probs. Deathlibrarian (talk) 01:10, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
- I suppose that's good enough, thanks! Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 01:46, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

No. This kind of material needs properly vetted secondary sources. There is no guarantee that a "documentary" can meet the standards of reliability and neutrality that we expect from a reliable publication. Drmies (talk) 17:25, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
BLP matters
[edit]There seems to be an ongoing dispute here. Let me just state that as an admin who is concerned with the BLP I concur with this edit. Negative BLP material should be properly sourced; it cannot be sourced to some documentary, and it cannot be based on a Facebook post even if that post and its content were also reported on by CNN--which, in this case, only reported that the guy had made the claims. That is not enough for inclusion here. Drmies (talk) 17:30, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
Uncited material in need of citations
[edit]I am moving the following uncited material here until it can be properly supported with inline citations of reliable, secondary sources, per WP:V, WP:CS, WP:IRS, WP:PSTS, WP:BLP, WP:NOR, et al. This diff shows where it was in the article. Nightscream (talk) 01:33, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
