Review
[edit]Hello. Happy to start this review! I think the article is ripe for promotion. I just need to check its grammar and go through the sources. One thing that caught my eye is that there are no sources in Spanish (not the editor's fault, but I still want to do some digging to see if more information can be used to update the article). This is not a requirement for GAs, since it appears to cover 3a and 3b criterias (addresses main topic and stays on topic). But I'll know more when I start reading and researching. Either way, nice job here! I'll post the review soon. MX (✉ • ✎) 20:31, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks! I tried to look for Spanish sources, but failed to find anything too relevant, would love if you found something to add! Courcelles (talk) 20:43, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
Background
[edit]- Arly Velásquez, an alpine skier – He is linked in the section after this, but not here. I would link it here and remove the link that follows. I would also link alpine skiing for those unfamiliar with it.
Disability classification
[edit]- there is often overlap between this and other categories – I feel like this is better in parenthesis or in a footnote. If you write it as "... though there is often overlap between this and other categories" it should work too.
- Les autres, any physical disability that does not fall strictly under one of the other categories – Link Les autres, since I doubt many readers will know what it is. Since it is the last classification, add an "and" before "Les autres".
- for example dwarfism or multiple sclerosis. – I think the word "like" instead of "for example" sounds better here, but I'll leave it up to you.
Alpine skiing
[edit]- Arly Velásquez was 25 years old at the time of the Sochi Paralympics – Remove link as previously stated, and keep surname only.
- he required surgery and was out of competition for two years – Wow. That's crazy.
Sources
[edit]I found multiple sources in Spanish that can shed some light on Arly's preparation and comments for Mexico prior to the competition. I didn't read all of them in their entirety so I apologize if there is some redundancy. In this source by Milenio, he talks about his background, preparation for the event, and why it is difficult for Mexico to excel in the Winter Olympics. This other source states that his performance in Sochi as "historic" for Mexico. Here are other reliable sources you can translate/use: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7]. Feel free to use them, and let me know if there is something you can't figure out through translation. MX (✉ • ✎) 21:37, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
Will do when I get home tonight. Courcelles (talk) 22:05, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
- No hurry. I usually give 7 days to get these things addressed, and can offer extensions if need be. Cheers, MX (✉ • ✎) 23:40, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
- From what I'm getting, there is a lot of redundancy in those sources, though several had something valuable to offer. Added 4 of the 7 that presented new stuff. Prose suggestions take care of as well, thanks, MX. Courcelles (talk) 01:44, 31 July 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you! Article passes. MX (✉ • ✎) 02:21, 31 July 2018 (UTC)
