unclear on the history of the peso
“ | However, from 1918 onward, the weight and fineness of all the silver coins declined, until 1977, when the last silver 100-peso coins were minted. | ” |
In 1993, Mexico issued a new currency - was this the third currency Mexico had issued, with the first being discontinued in 1977? If so, why did they discontinue the first currency? And if not then why is there a section "first peso" and "second peso"? TerraFrost (talk) 01:36, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
= term: "Peso'
I read somewhere that the term "Peso" was originally a slang term for the real, similar to "buck" for the US dollar. I don't know the facts about this or I would edit the article accordingly. If anyone knows, would you add it so that we could all know.
