Background
There seems a great potential missed in this article to cover the real world background of the city, and its connection to the Fritz Lang film. Any takers?

I wanted to add in a fact that I was searching for but didn't find here, that Metropolis is referred to as "The Big Apricot" in contrast or perhaps more likely in jest of New Yory City's "Big Apple." I couldn't find a nice niche for the quote, so I'm leaving it here for someone more experienced with wiki editing to add in. 67.9.76.108
further connection to NYC in the 1st superman movie the statue of liberty is seen and I am not sure but lois might have mentioned an airport in the movie aswell.
Can someone upload more pictures from the Superman Returns game? That has some good concept art for Metropolis.
Football team
I thought the team was called the Metropolis Sharks? Reelusa89 12:54, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

- I thought that might have been the case. Can this difference be mentioned in the article?Reelusa89 14:12, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
This is a great article
It's short simple--has some nice images. I applaud the work that's gone into this!
Other cities
I'm catching up on Smallville (TV series). There have been numerous references to other fictional cities (Edge City, Star City, etc.). Should they be mentioned in this article? samwaltz 05:42, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Metrosmallville.jpg
Image:Metrosmallville.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Superman Returns Map
On Lex Luthors Yacht, in his office, There is a map of the east coast. if you pause it, and zoom in you will see that Metropolis is in New Jersey while Gotham is where New York should be. Just thought I'd let people know. 71.176.173.125 (talk) 16:34, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Metropolis Zip Code
At 37 minutes 13 seconds into "When Irish Eyes Are Killing" (Lois & Clark, season 3, episode 4), Clark examines a customer file card, which Lois stole from the Bank of Metropolis. The card gives an address in Metropolis: 2121 McKain St., Metropolis, New Troy 10022. United State Postal Service Zip Code 10022 is actually located in New York, NY. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mwhitlock (talk • contribs) 01:29, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
"One of the largest cities" or "The largest city"
The initial paragraph states that Metropolis is generally considered to be one of the largest cities in the DCU. I'm pretty sure that it is frequently stated that it is THE largest city bar none. E.g. an Adventures of Superman issue in 1995, the issue when Supes' Superhero-colleague Alpha Centurion arrives on earths, states that when his spaceship descended into the atmosphere of the planet he commaned the auto-pilot to stage a landing in the largest city of the planet, which Centurion (being a Roman from ancient time) assumed to be Rome, yet which turned out to be Metropolis. --80.142.240.25 (talk) 14:48, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Daily-planet-globe.jpg
The image Image:Daily-planet-globe.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Original research?
I added the tag since this article contains a great deal of unverified information. There are statement such as: "Metropolis is the literal merging of the Northeast Corridor of cities ranging from Washington, D.C. through New York City to Boston, to form a megalopolis." or "It has been said that, metaphorically, Metropolis is New York during the day, and Gotham City (home to Batman) is New York at night." 91.95.6.80 (talk) 18:48, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
WikiProject Comics B-Class Assesment required
This article needs the B-Class checklist filled in to remain a B-Class article for the Comics WikiProject. If the checklist is not filled in by 7th August this article will be re-assessed as C-Class. The checklist should be filled out referencing the guidance given at Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment/B-Class criteria. For further details please contact the Comics WikiProject. First appearance citation in infobox
In the infobox, the first appearance of Metropolis is stated to have been in Action Comics #16. Unless Clark Kent relocated in that issue, what obviously happened there is nothing more than that the name was used for the first time, but the feature had been taking place in the same city from the outset, right? Anybody with a copy of DC's Golden Age Superman Archives Vol. 1 can confirm that, so the infobox needs to be changed, doesn't it? --Ted Watson (talk) 19:31, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
