Controversy Section

[edit]

Had to remove the controversy tag, since nobody's discussing this article, let alone writing it. Giving rent-a-cops guns is a scary thought to a lot of people, particularly the reputation of transit cops in other places like NYC. I can't imagine this article will generate much controversy though, as the VPD article remains neglected, and the RCMP seems to draw a pretty sedate bunch of editors.Bobanny 02:42, 20 October 2006 (UTC) p.s., okay, I'll start: Why, I oughtta...these bunch of !#@$% are nothing but a pile of !#@$% and should be !#@$% until they !#@$%!!![reply]

I changed the "Use of Force" section to "Controversy" since that is what it is focused on, but I also tagged it for POV. The first couple of articles are talked about with the words "the force defends the use" and "police deny". Instead, the referenced articles should be factually summarized, removing bias from the original article's POV. These are also minor incidents over the scope of an organization's history. Need they be discussed here? Shoman93 (talk) 23:30, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article edited. Specific incidents removed, and overarching issues addressed instead. Shoman93 (talk) 23:22, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

GVTAPS

[edit]

Shouldn't this article be changed to Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority Police Service considering it says in its own introduction that the name was changed in 2007?24.78.198.224 (talk) 07:28, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It was changed from GVTAPS to its current name, SCBCTAPS in 2007 ... I think you got the two reversed.--Cahk (talk) 12:56, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
What about changing the article to "SCBCTA Transit Police" to shorten the title and to make it easier to find when you search for 'transit police' Shoman93 (talk) 00:35, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That is an incorrect reference to the force. "Transit Police" and "SCBCTA Police Service" are the only correct reference. However, Transit Police is too common of a name to be used on its own on Wikipedia.--Cahk (talk) 05:27, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Iv420 20040004 policebadge .jpg

[edit]

Image:Iv420 20040004 policebadge .jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:14, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
