[edit]I don't have enough time to figure out why the image isn't linking properly. I am new so can't upload to Wikipedia direct. The old image is way out of date and Metiria has requested it be changed.

- Kia ora
- I have finally uploaded a proper, current photo owned fully by me and hopefully meeting the wiki lighting requirements. Its here
- I dont think I can add it to this page, because of conflict of interest, but it is here for someone to update the page if possible.

Broken link
[edit]The link to the Women's Weekly article "Metiria Turei: My daughter saved me" (link 11 currently) is broken and leads to the Women's Weekly home page (Chrome, Windows) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.216.24.181 (talk) 07:14, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
Proposed merge with Electoral history of Metiria Turei
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- To merge given insufficient notability for a split. Klbrain (talk) 22:33, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
unjustified split--the complete tables for the year showing the other parties are not directly relevant. DGG ( talk ) 02:07, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
- Could copy the contents from the Electoral history page to her article. Other NZ and international politicians' page include the electoral history in the biographical article. Andykatib 03:13, August 1, 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose There is no precedent of including electoral history in biographical articles, quite the opposite. Kiwichris (talk) 06:13, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
- Comment: I am the creator of the article, so I won't set my opinion down firmly, but I do agree with Kiwichris: It is the precedent to keep them as separate articles. J947(c) (m) 05:22, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
- Support: There is no precedent other that the fact that Kiwichris has established one by creating nearly all articles in the Category:Electoral histories of New Zealand politicians. It's time this forking was ended - it serves no purpose. Fan | talk 11:55, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
- Comment: I support the electoral history articles for former and current prime ministers. I can see the point of having those articles for leaders of the opposition. I'm unsure about having those articles for anybody else. Schwede66 20:35, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
- Merger complete. Klbrain (talk) 22:33, 17 January 2019 (UTC)

Update
[edit]Hi. The page is out of date now, but my suggested edit to correct my name spelling, add my profession and iwi (tribes) and update the photo was declined. I don’t know why. Everything else should remain the same. I will attempt to update the photo - I don’t own the old one so I don’t know why it’s allowed to remain up.
Suggested edit of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metiria_Turei
Replace "Metiria Leanne Agnes Stanton Turei (born 1970) is a former New Zealand politician." with "Metiria Leeann Agnes Stanton Turei (born 1970) is a New Zealand academic and a former New Zealand politician. She is of Ngāti Kahungunu and Āti Hau nui a Pāpārangi descent."
Metiria (talk) 08:37, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- Partly done. I've added the academic bit, and the iwi affiliations are in a separate sentence elsewhere in the lede (also in the main body with a reference). I'm not sure that its standard practice to add whakapapa in the article lede, but maybe that's something that needs to change, so I'm following the "be bold" rule - people will just revert it if they don't like it.
- On the photo, the current one is CC-licenced, so there's no IP issue there at all, though it is obviously out of date. The one you keep trying to replace it with is of poor quality with backlighting, which is why people are reverting it. If you upload a better-quality photo to Commons, then its likely to be used, since generally articles prefer recent photos to older ones. --IdiotSavant (talk) 10:17, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- Kia ora Metiria, sorry for reverting your photo but as IdiotSavant has explained, it's of poor quality. Regarding your question why the old photo is allowed, the Green Party has always been good to make photos of MPs available with an open license. As far as I know, there's only one MP where we only have a very poor photo so if you have taken one of Rod Donald and are prepared to make that available, please upload it to Commons and say when it's done (here is good). What you've done above, i.e. make suggestions how this page should be edited, is good. Don't edit the article yourself as it's against the rules (see WP:COI if you want to know why). Any questions, please ask. Schwede66 18:55, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
Many thanks to you both for the clarifications. I will do my best to remedy the photo. The use of the iwi affiliations in the top one or two sentences comes from following the example from here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacinta_Ruru but the change to the text now is fine. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Metiria (talk • contribs) 00:38, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
