[edit]The following text has been copied from User talk:97.88.248.26:
Hello, I believe that the edits made yesterday after my additions to The Metal Ware Corporation Page should not have been undone. I understand that you would like a source for this to be footnoted, however, they are based on my personal experience. I would appreciate you being able to help me properly cite this so it can be re-posted with your approval. Furthermore, you indicated that it was edited for self promotion and not meeting the notability requirement. I disagree with your assessment of the situation.
The article sites multiple people involved in the running of The Metal Ware Corporation though the years. Please help me understand why those people would be considered more or less notable in your view and why their inclusion is not self promoting? If the facts are accurate, wouldn't the inclusion of an individuals name relevant to the company's history be appropriate?
Please note I would appreciate a robust discussion on this issue rather than just simply undoing an edit from either party. I hope you are willing to engage in a constructive dialog.
Please also note that I am new to this and greatly appreciate your patience with me being a novice.
- First off, welcome to Wikipedia! If you are serious about being a regular editor and contributor, I would strongly encourage you to create a user login and then notify me about it on my talk page. (click on the "63" in my signature at the end of this comment). I would be willing to mentor you and help you through the sometimes labyrinthine policies here and help you become a productive contributor.
- I tend to write and edit historical articles about companies and persons connected to business and industry. Later I can go through in detail what was wrong with your edit and what can be done to improve it.
- While your personal experience is valuable, it would not be considered a reliable source. Basically you can view Wikipedia as a compilation of information that has been previously published elsewhere. If, in fact, you actually currently work for Metal Ware, that must be disclosed and then it would be very strongly discouraged for you to edit the article page as a COI, but you would be very welcome to contribute information in the talk page for other editors to add to the article. I would actually welcome the inside information as I have a lot of questions about the company's history and I feel the article as it currently stands is of rather poor quality.
