Wouldn't Message in a Bottle (movie) work better than having Message in a bottle and Message in a Bottle? Laundrypowder 19:26, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Lions Clubs International District 105D project

[edit]

I feel that this should mention Lions Clubs International Message in a Bottle scheme operating in the UK (at least), and designed to encourage people to keep their personal and medical details on a standard form and in a common location - the fridge. It means amending the intro to e.g. "form of communication whereby a message is sealed in a container to protect it from moisture. One reason for this is where it will later be released into a body of water." Whether this is seen as acceptable when there is no reason for a Wiki page on what is covered fully by www.lions105d.org.uk/projects/miab.html I am not 100% sure; but I feel that as a public service it ought to be allowed as a use of the title. The Lions Club scheme is already mentioned at the end of the section, Message_in_a_bottle#Similar_methods_using_other_media. The present disambiguation page already points to the article, Message in a bottle, so I'm not sure how a more specific link to the section could be proper within Wikipedia especially since the Lions Club procedure doesn't seem to be independently notable or even have a name distinct from "Message in a bottle". —RCraig09 (talk) 17:23, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I've just added generic mention of the Lions Club scheme to the WP:Lede paragraphs of Message in a bottle, to reflect the broadened use of the term beyond its literal meaning of bottled messages released into the ocean. —RCraig09 (talk) 17:48, 21 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
