Trying to fix Afromoths link
[edit]Our article is for Mesoptila festiva (Prout L.B., 1916) with a synonym of Eupithecia excita Prout, 1916.
At Afromoths, there is nothing by that name and nothing by searching Geometridae, Larentiinae, Mesoptila or Emmesocoma or Eupithecia.
There is a Eupithecia festiva Prout L.B., 1916 at http://www.afromoths.net/species_by_code/EUPIFEST but no Eupithecia excita.
On Wikipedia Eupithecia festiva redirects to this article. Eupithecia festiva was the original name of this article - moved by Ruigeroeland 2013.
On Wikipedia Eupithecia excita redirects to Mesoptila excita.
The Taxapad / Home of Ichneumonoidea link is for genus Eupithecia. It has links to Eupithecia excita Prout 1958 at http://www.taxapad.com/local.php?taxonidLC=82872866 and Eupithecia festiva Prout 1916 at http://www.taxapad.com/local.php?taxonidLC=82872881. It also has a page for Mesoptila Meyrick 1891, with only one species, Mesoptila compsodes Meyrick, 1891.
The abstract and first page of "A generic level review of Eupithecia Curtis and some closely related genera based on the Palaearctic, Nearctic and Oriental fauna (Lepidoptera, Geometridae, Larentiinae)" by Mironov & Galsworthy at http://www.mapress.com/zootaxa/2012/f/z03587p064f.pdf says it has a new combination for Mesoptila festiva Prout, 1916. I think it means that it moves it from Eupithecia.
NHM's LepIndex has EUPITHECIA excita Prout, 1958 at http://www.nhm.ac.uk/our-science/data/lepindex/search/detail.dsml?TaxonNo=221821.0. (presuming that's Louis Beethoven Prout who died in 1943, but his article has a publication dating as late as 1958) and EUPITHECIA festiva Prout, 1916 at http://www.nhm.ac.uk/our-science/data/lepindex/search/detail.dsml?TaxonNo=221856.0.
Savela has nothing for any of these species names.
I'm thinking that Eupithecia excita Prout, 1916, listed as a synonym on our page, is not the correct synonym and the correct synonym is Eupithecia festiva.
Based on Mironov & Galsworthy, Mesoptila festiva is the correct name, Eupithecia festiva Prout, 1916 is the synonym, and the links above for Eupithecia festiva could be used as references.
