Doctor Who
[edit]I believe this song was used in the Season 3 (Episode 00) episode of Doctor Who "Runaway Bride". Maybe someone could add it to the page and also mention what other TV shows/movies it has been featured in? —Preceding unsigned comment added by KannD86 (talk • contribs) 01:00, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
- There are probably a lot, so it's not like appearing in TV shows is significant. Majorly talk 21:32, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- The significance is that the song is played in nearly every one of the new Doctor Who's "Christmas specials" (i.e. the 13th "bonus" episode of each season) and is apparently the only Christmas song played in those episodes. It's actually one of the only songs to appear on the show at all (though according to the article it seems to have also appeared in at least one non-special). -- 87.78.247.171 (talk) 07:55, 19 April 2016 (UTC)
title
[edit]Shouldn't this be "Merry X'mas Everybody" ? Parrot of Doom 22:31, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
- The only time I have seen it referred to like that is on the single cover (which also has a backwards S - should we be using that too?). Every source referred to it as either Merry Christmas or Merry Xmas. Majorly talk 22:34, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well perhaps other online sources omit the ' for expediancy, but I expect that this would certainly be picked up on at an FAC. Parrot of Doom 22:42, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
- It seems that Slade officially dropped the apostrophe - see the Wall of Hits album cover. But it would be useful if we could source some info on this to put in the article. Compilation tracklists variously give "Merry Xmas Everybody" or the same with a reversed 's'. But can anyone find a reversed 's' in Unicode? -- Smjg (talk) 17:57, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Royalties
[edit]£500,000 royalties p/a is ludicrous and extremely unlikely. Moreover, the cited reference from The Stirrer doesn't even say this. Any objection to this statement going (the actual amount, not the "pension" bit)? 188.220.225.23 (talk) 01:56, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
This bit needs rewriting - Recording section
[edit]"Despite its association with the British working class, it was actually recorded at the Record Plant in New York"
What has where it was recorded got to do with it's 'association with the British working class'?
I suggest that "Despite its association with the British working class" is removed as it makes no sense in this context. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.125.237.40 (talk) 14:32, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

Chart (1980)
[edit]Although technically "Merry Xmas Everybody" charted in 1980, that version is just the intro to Xmas Ear Bender - it's 40 seconds of a live audience singing the song (not even the band themselves!) before it segues into "Okey Cokey". Could it somehow be made clear that the 1980 version is NOT the same as the other versions? Incidentally, while the more sensible way of looking at it is as a medley or megamix of the two songs, if you were to regard "Merry Xmas Everybody" as the featured track in its own right, it would be second only to "The Ladies' Bras" as the shortest single ever to chart! --86.131.142.201 (talk) 13:03, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
