What was the point in separating Merrily We Roll Along into two articles if that left the article about the original play with just a few sentences? I can understand dividing an article if both of the resulting articles are substantial, but not in this case. IMHO, it was fine as it was. ConoscoTutto 20:39, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
My edits
[edit]I added a large section on the background, all from the referenced Zadan book. I also rearranged to align more closely to the Musical theatre structure guidelines. It still needs a plot, especially showing how this "going backwards" plot worked. Added Signature Theatre production, I never know what is notable or not.
There is still more material, interesting stuff at the Signature Theatre site, also on the referenced Ken. Center. There is a very interesting chapter in the book on Sondheim by Joanne Gordon, discussing the function of the chorus "to help the audience realize that the play is moving in reverse order and then to help it make sense of this inversion." - Good work. I look forward to your putting in the above information when you get back in a couple of weeks. Once we get a good synopsis in here, the article should be ready for an upgrade to B-class.... Best regards, and have a great wikibreak. -- Ssilvers 21:51, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:MerrilyWeRollAlong.jpg
[edit]Image:MerrilyWeRollAlong.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Not A Day Goes By in the Original Production
[edit]There were two references to Beth singing Not a Day Goes By in the original production. At some point, she clearly did, since the original playbill - https://playbill.com/production/merrily-we-roll-along-alvin-theatre-vault-0000000877#carousel-cell143968 - lists her as the singer.
However, on the Original Cast Recording, and in a recording available on YouTube, Frank sings the song to Beth. I changed the listing in the original cast recording and updated a small passage that used this song as an example of symmetry in the show. Boofasten (talk) 09:35, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
