This article needs information prior to the conversion to a state run airport, including background information on the Serralles family, since I think they originally ran the airport as part of their sugar cane industry. Mtmelendez 13:47, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This airport is international

And it handles a bit over 110,000 passengers yearly--BoricuaPR 02:47, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The concept of an "international airport" has nothing to do with the amount of passengers handled, and more about its flight connections and whether it has U.S. Customs and U.S. Immigration representatives in-house. However, the concept is actually very subjective, and should really be based on the airport's official name. I searched online and the title varies from Aeropuerto Mercedita to Aeropuerto Internacional Mercedita. The closest reliable sources I could find was that the Municipality of Ponce's main site calls it International,[1] as does the Puerto Rico Legislature.[2] So I'm moving the page to Mercedita International Airport based on this. - Mtmelendez (Talk|UB|Home) 14:56, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
