W111 and W112
[edit]Hi,
I may be wrong, but the photo appears to be a W111 not a W112, as the W112 always had a waistband (mid body chrome strip) 220.233.23.94 22:28, 18 January 2007 (UTC)Paul denyer
- I think the above is correct. Even the caption for the media indicates it's a 'generic' picture of a W111/W112 Coupe. As to whether this W112 article should be merged with the W111 article, I believe it should be. I realize there were substantial mechanical differences between the two; but most people look at the superficial bodywork similarities. The major differences are in the upgraded engines, air suspension, and upgraded interior and exterior bits that distinguish the W112's. Someone looking at a 220 SE 'Fintail' or a 300 SEL 'Fintail' won't really see much difference. The same would go for the coupes. As the above question mentions and the photo indicates, many people apply the chrome wheel-well trims to non-W112 cars as well or might remove the chrome body-side 'spear', changing a distinguishing feature. And finally, Mercedes for a long time historically 'paired' model types that should be grouped together and typically are grouped together on Wikipedia: W114/W115 and the W108/W109 (same issues with engine and suspension differences as the W111/W112 models). Therefore, I think the W112 article should be merged with the W111 article and the major distinguishing features (engines and suspensions) be noted. PVarjak (talk) 02:32, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
