Sept 5, 2011 Nice trail and we congratulate the Scouts for building it. Some confusion in trail blazes between stump dump and Willow Road: From start of the large open field of the East River Preserve one can follow the west edge, enter the woods to extreme NW and follow the trail marked by strips of orange tape tied to branches. Once you hit the power line clearing jog left or west a few feet and look for a (very small) cairn of rocks marking the continuation. NO blue blazes are found until one crosses the line between the city's East River Preserve and the Land Trust at mile 0.78. From there it is easy to follow the blue blazes, crossing Willow Road at about 1.68 miles and ending up on N Madison Road at around 2.34 miles. To continue on the Menunkatuck in order to reach the Timberland Preserve one has to walk 1/4 mile west along N. Madison Rd (towards the golf course) and then cross the road. Look for the blue blazes on the south side wooden electricity poles.

Extended southward?

[edit]

Walked part today, and southern terminus seems further south. This link: https://www.newenglandtrail.org/get-on-the-trail/ct-net-section-05-menunkatuck-trail would have it extended via roads to the Sound. Can we confirm this? Jd2718 (talk) 00:36, 11 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
