I have a question, Why this electric motor is called Mendocino? Was it the surname of its builder? Is it the name of mendocino in USA? Why is it called Mendocino? Anybody could know the answer?. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.38.94.191 (talk) 12:08, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So when were you visiting Fort Bragg, Mendocino County, California?

I live a block from Larry Springs "museum" where he has several of these motors in his window.

Does Larry know you sell the plans to his motors?

Who are you talking to? This is Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia. There is nothing for sale here. Only free knowledge. APL (talk) 04:35, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you follow the external link on the main page you can see that this kind of motor was invented at Bell Labs. Mendocino seems to be a newer name for it, but Larry Springs certainly did not invent this, just build a few. It should be called the Chapin Motor (or Murray Hill Motor ?), if anything Erbium68 (talk) 17:48, 11 November 2012 (UTC)erbium68[reply]

essential description

[edit]

There is no real description of what a Mendocino Motor is. An implementation is discussed. The word levitation is used but this is not essential. Paul Beardsell (talk) 13:48, 16 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have attempted to improve the description, and I have taken some photos of my motors and added them to the article. JanGB (talk) 20:20, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
