Suggested merge with "Melbourne Marathon" article
[edit]The content for the articles "Melbourne Marathon" and "Melbourne Marathon Festival" are similar. Given that the Melbourne Marathon is part of the Melbourne Marathon Festival, I think it makes sense to merge "Melbourne Marathon" to "Melbourne Marathon Festival". Apologies in advance for any errors in discussion methods as this will be my first response of this kind. I am strongly against any merge. The Melbourne marathon far outdates the Melbourne Marathon Festival and completely deserves a page of its own. It has a rich 33 year history, and at times has barely survived, needing considerable personal and sometimes financial commitment from individuals. The festival has greatly contributed to the recent success of the Marathon, but is far younger. Distances other than 42.2 K are recent innovations: certainly in 2005, perhaps earlier but I couldn't find mention in the result books after a less than thorough look. David Foskey
