To anyone who is interested on the topic of Melanoplus bivittatus, I am going to be adding a large sum of information about the species for my university level entomology class. Even though there is little information on the species, I will do my best to keep the information already presented as it is, however I apologize in advance if some information is changed around. Thanks! Lizelle de Wet, University of Macewan.
Melanoplus bivittatus
[edit]Suggestion to help readers learn about insects: The description seems to imply that being poikilothermic distinguishes this type of grasshopper. All Orthoptera, like nearly all insects, are poikilothermic. The description seems to imply the minor Canadian range is an important or major portion, and cited a crop damage study as an indicator of range, although there are published regional and continental range sources. It might be better to choose photos without a missing hind leg, since hind legs are a distinctive characteristic of Acrididae. dan.johnson@uleth.ca 96.51.46.124 (talk) 18:50, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
