Un-Encyclopedic?
[edit]I removed this part because it seemed un-encyclopedic Blackviper91 (talk) 02:51, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
A very important fact to mention about Mel, and of which he was very proud of, is that he was a world class fisherman, when he retired he traveled to many places in the world on fishing adventures, and until a few years ago he spent lots of his time fishing. He will tell you great stories about his fishing trips, he had a great love for fishing, although he never ate fish. A great men indeed, and a great friend! Always in our hearts.
- ...Obviously a friend posted that admittedly un-encyclopedic addition. Leven was, however, very well known among professional and amateur fly fishers alike (in Bill Schaadt's circle especially), so it deserves mention in the bio. I'm afraid after a very quick search I've only come up with one source in print that mentions him, but there are many publications in which his name appears. Perhaps someone with more time and maybe a few old issues of angling periodicals in their attic will be able to track better references down. Moises de la vera (talk) 09:19, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
Removed this from the article
[edit]The following was at the end of the article. Clearly it does not belong there.
I, laurie leven fondiler, rewrote some of this. My dad was Jewish and was a atheist. I don't know who wrote this but many facts are wrong. But, thank you for writing this. He was an amazing man. So smart, creative and complicated. We loved him very much. He had the best sense of humor. He made people laugh.
