He isn't a progressive journalist.

[edit]

How can a anti-abortion, anti-LGBT, Anti-non believer can become a progressive journalist? [1] 103.164.163.24 (talk) 14:42, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

While I don't think it's your fault, as the article is unclear about this, those are former positions/statements, not current day beliefs, of his. I think the term is applied appropriately. Mason7512 (talk) 23:40, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Relevance

[edit]

How relevant is "Hasan and British actor and rapper Riz Ahmed were schoolmates." in Early beginnings? Mcljlm (talk) 12:29, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's not rigorously relevant, but neither is it particularly bothersome, in my opinion. cheers. anastrophe, an editor he is. 22:05, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism

[edit]

Perhaps the criticism in Mehdi Hasan: A conscience for hire should be mentioned. Mcljlm (talk) 13:40, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Hasan was formerly against abortion, a position he has since abhorred."

[edit]

The phrase "a position he has since abhorred" reads very unnaturally in English, and seems to have been written by a non-native English speaker. Are the power users who control this article native English speakers? It could be written in a variety of more natural ways in plain English. 120.88.155.223 (talk) 04:18, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"non muslims are animals" - didnt happen

[edit]

someone actually read his quote and fix this incorrect article.

"In another sermon, he used the term "animals" to describe non-Muslims.[46][47]"

this didnt happen. i cant edit it myself because of semi protected status. but he didnt actually say this. he said they "live their lives as animals" which by definition is not calling them animals. see, e.g., "he lives like a pig." this doesnt call that person a pig, or describe this person as a pig. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.2.105.67 (talk) 07:56, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The existing statement is accurate. He described non-believers as living their lives as animals. If you "live as an animal" is different from "live like an animal", which is a different characterization. Regardless, he used the word "animal" as a descriptor for non-muslims. It's accurate. cheers. anastrophe, an editor he is. 21:59, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
