Debate on age-ranging or -banding children's books (2008)
[edit]According to The Guardian, Meg Rosoff was one of few children's authors to support publisher plans for "age-banding" or "age-ranging" books. Here is her essay in favor:
- Meg Rosoff, "Hay festival: Ranging and raging: I regret missing Jimmy Carter, but I regret missing the opportunity to protest the children's age-ranging debate more" 31 May 2008
- "I seem to be the lone voice in favour of adding suggested age ranges to children's books, and would have greatly enjoyed protesting the protest."
On the contemporary protest, with links to more articles plus guardian.co.uk blogs:
- Richard Lea and Nell Boase, "Hay festival: Authors rebel against age ranges on books" 29 May 2008

- 2008 Carnegie Medal winners Philip Reeve was another author in support. 26 Jun 2008
