MedesMedian Empire – This is a empire M.k.m2003 (talk) 14:30, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Oppose simply because the existence of such an empire is disputed in academic sources. Doug Weller talk 16:31, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

@Doug Weller: What do you think about the kingdom? I don't think it will be disputed M.k.m2003 (talk) 13:05, 13 March 2020 (UTC)

Oppose Per Dougweller. Even the current map of the Medes is not certain, their domains could have been quite smaller. Much of the information provided by Greek historians regarding the Medes is legendary. --HistoryofIran (talk) 21:44, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Why do you do injustice? Herodotus confirms, I think you confused Herodotus with Ferdowsi!, one question:Was Deioces the founder of a country (The name that is being used now) or a civilization? The answer is the country, Were they Race Or a particular cult? They were a kingdom And resources are available. Ignoring these resources is strange! M.k.m2003 (talk) 23:11, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
@HistoryofIran: Please don't insult[1] Sorry for my opinion (silly) M.k.m2003 (talk) 10:08, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
To be honest I'm not going to be aggressive But in some cases I will upset you And sorry for that, please forgive me In this case, it does not cause aggression, My intention is to transfer the article Not a fight with anyone. Thank you M.k.m2003 (talk) 10:23, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
  • Oppose; article appears to primarily be about the people? Axem Titanium (talk) 21:58, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
    @Axem Titanium: For what? In that case, the title must be Median people, The Medes were kingdoms And sources prove So the Kings ruled the people M.k.m2003 (talk) 22:42, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
    The first line of the article is "The Medes were an ancient Iranian people". I don't know enough about the scholarly literature to adjudicate between "Medes" and "Median people" as the correct most common term but it's clear that the article is about people (as tribes or organizations of these people, including as kingdoms and empires). Axem Titanium (talk) 22:46, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
    @Axem Titanium: I suggest creating another article, What do you think? M.k.m2003 (talk) 22:53, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
    @M.k.m: If you want to make another article about something else, then go do it. Requesting a move in order to change the scope of an article is the absolute wrong way to do it. Axem Titanium (talk) 22:59, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
    This article is (supposed to be) about the realm of a line of Median rulers before the advent of the Achaemenid Empire. The Medes as a people are attested as far as the Sasanian era. However, one thing is sure, they didn't rule an empire. Herodotus is well known for writing fairy tales, as stated in the Oxford Handbook of Ancient Iran for example;

"Yet so far, contemporary evidence for a unified Median state in the eighth and seventh centuries has proven to be elusive. Excavations in sites such as Nush-e Jan, Baba Jan, and Godin Tepe support the idea of small independent states centered on fortresses controlling the region and passage through it, which emerges so clearly from the Assyrian sources. On the other hand, archaeological evidence for a unified Median state stretching from Iran to Inner Anatolia is conspicuously lacking while (p. 454) the Assyrian sources fail to back up any part of Herodotus’ account on the genesis of such a state. Recent scholarship therefore prefers to see Herodotus’ Medikos Logos as largely fictitious and cautions against its use as a historical source for the history of the Medes"

And no, we don't need a new article; we already have Media (region) where we can put stuff regarding the Median people. --HistoryofIran (talk) 22:54, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
@HistoryofIran: Do you think the Medes were Kingdom? (A kingdom not a empire) M.k.m2003 (talk) 23:10, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
I dunno. --HistoryofIran (talk) 23:19, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
If you pay attention to my talk, I do not support the word empire Rather, I supported the word Kingdom, The kingdom is the right title It is also used in Persian Wikipedia (پادشاهی ماد=Median Kingdom Or Median Monarchy[2]) M.k.m2003 (talk) 23:32, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
Lol, no you didn't, it literally says you are requesting a move to "Median Empire" (you even started attacking me when I opposed). You might wanna read WP:COMPETENCE. I'm out of this thread. --HistoryofIran (talk) 23:37, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
Didn't read the rest of the Talk? OK, I make another request M.k.m2003 (talk) 23:50, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
My bad that I can't understand your amazing English. I'm not interested in taking part in the next move thread. --HistoryofIran (talk) 00:01, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
You made me happy M.k.m2003 (talk) 00:04, 14 March 2020 (UTC)

MedesMedian Kingdom – This is the continuation of the Median Empire talk(The Median Empire's request was a mistake And it must end[3]) M.k.m2003 (talk) 23:58, 13 March 2020 (UTC)

The kingdom is the right title It is also used in Persian Wikipedia (پادشاهی ماد=Median Kingdom Or Median Monarchy[4]) M.k.m2003 (talk) 00:08, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
Medes What were they? people, civilization, race, Empire Or Kingdom. Read the previous talk, Do you understand anything? M.k.m2003 (talk) 10:09, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
  • OpposeAs our article says, they were originally a group of tribes. In other words, the Medes are not the same as the Median Kingdom, whatever it was, and existed before it did. Therefore this article should be about the Medes - and the kingdom, but the main topic is the Medes. Doug Weller talk 17:28, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
    @Doug Weller: What! A article with two topics? Do we have such a policy? If you believe there are two Subjects, you Can create another article M.k.m2003 (talk) 16:01, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
