I'll review this. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 11:29, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • The lead is rather short for the length of the article; can it be expanded a bit?
  • Can we get a few words of biographical detail for Bodemark, rather than starting with him acquiring an organ? E.g. "Claes Bodemark, the bandleader of Mecki Mark Men, was living in Stockholm in the early 1960s, and working as a studio organist for a local television station. He acquired his first Hammond L-100 organ..."
  • I'd suggest cutting the mention of the German word for "crew cut" unless a secondary source specifically discusses it with respect to Bodemark. The same goes for the discussion of the meaning of "Mark"; do we have a source that talks about this with respect to the group? If not, it's original research.
  • Why is it worth mentioning Hendrix smashing the plate glass window?
  • The discussion of the political protests in 1968 seems out of proportion to the relevance to the article; I think a sentence would cover it, but as it stands more than half the paragraph is not about MMM. And come to that, why do we care about the Baby Grandmothers tour, and the production of Hår? This is an article about MMM, not about Bodemark.
  • Another example of what looks like original research: the discussion of Limelight appears to be unconnected to MMM. Why do we care? Does the source discuss Limelight in connection with MMM? A brief characterization of Limelight is fine, but the material related to MMM in that paragraph is shorter than the material about Limelight.
  • For the physical books used as references, including the ones for which you've linked to online copies, can you add page numbers? It makes it a lot easier for a reader to check a citation.

I'll do another read through once these points are addressed. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 12:11, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Morganfitzp: are you planning to work on the article? If I don't hear from you I'll fail the article in another week; if you need more time, that's no problem -- just let me know. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 12:39, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No response, so I am failing this. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 12:28, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Mike Christie:. I've been offline. Too late to request more time? Morganfitzp (talk) 00:41, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would make more sense to address these points then nominate it again; I'll pick up the review if you let me know when you renominate it. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 03:10, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Morganfitzp (talk) 22:20, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, making notes on these edits as I go:

  • Lede: Now longer.
  • Bodemark bio: Improved as suggested.
  • Mecki meaning: Cut "crewcut" as suggested. It belongs perhaps in an article about the hedgehog, but less so here.
  • Mark meaning: Cut what was possibly original research. Tricky because a Swedish person would probably just know that the name means "Mecki's men from the outskirts" in the way that an English-speaking person knows that the spelling of "Beatles" means "like little bugs, but with rhythm." But until I can find a source that explains MMM's name, it's nixed.
  • Hendrix injury: Downplayed this but left a little bit in as it informs the Hendrix/MMM relationship and how they influenced each other's music.
  • 68 protests: Their inclusion explains why the Swedish production of Hair was so important at that time.
  • Baby Grandmothers: With Bodemark, the Baby Grandmothers are the Mecki Mark Men during most of the band's initial existence. One might think of the Granmothers' relationship to MMM like that of The Quarrymen to The Beatles.
  • Hår: Significant in the development of the band from their first lineup to their second.
  • Limelight: This section answers the question, "Why did a mainstream American jazz label release records by a weird Swedish rock band?" Leads back to Hår and forward to how they ended up being the first Swedish rock act to tour the U.S.
  • Page numbers:

Once I've addressed all of these, I'll resubmit for GA review. Morganfitzp (talk) 23:32, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
