Different Mecano group from Netherlands
[edit]For this listing to be complete one should also reference that there is yet another group called Mecano, again 8-'s electro style but this time based in Netherlands their offcial website is at [ http://www.mecano.ws/]
- That would require a disambiguation page or link in the header to Mecano (Netherlands). See WP:Disambiguation. Antonrojo 12:18, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
This "other" Mecano was originally punk art rock, not electro, and evolved over the years to its current incarnation, with a split creating the short-lived Flue group, which put out 2 albums: Vista and the half-live One and a Half, and a reboot afgter the Mecano hiatus called Valori Plastici. Founder Dirk Polak is actually a painter. They were distributed by the label Torso, but their compilation The Half-Inch universe is/was distributed by Lazy Dog records. The NL wikipedia has a complete discography at http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mecano_(Nederlandse_band)
Unpublished songs
[edit]Some of these "unpublished songs" have been published in at least Obras completas. Should they be removed? --Error 23:17, 16 October 2005 (UTC)
I removed "La extraña posición", "Quiero vivir en la ciudad", "Viaje espacial", "Napoleón" and "Super-Ratón" since they all have been published as B-Sides.
Song descriptions
[edit]I like the idea of the short song descriptions, but I think we need to offset them somehow (brackets?) because it's hard to read what the actual song title is now. Sublium
- What about:
- Title. Description.

Works for me. Sublium
POV
[edit]The person who placed the POV and rewrite tags didn't comment here, so I will. Comments such as "Mecano was to become the most important Spanish-speaking groups of the 80s and the early 90s" are a clear indication that this article needs to be reviewed for POV; nevertheless, the article isn't so completely riddled with such statements that it needs to be entirely rewritten. 24.126.199.129 23:02, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Hello... My name is Alexander (nickname: Chane)... I think this:
The Mecano group (since their beginning) was a very mythical group inside all Spain (I don't say this, but it is said by Musical Spanish critique) because of it, I think that the person who wrote this text that you are criticizing, he was referring that Mecano is the most important pop-group of modern music into Spain; no other musical group has had the impact that had Mecano in their moment. I believe that this person who wrote this text he wanted to say this that I am explaining to you.
Thank you and so long!.
Chane.-
Mecano "was"
[edit]It talks about them in the past tense, but never tells when they stopped. A quick search doesn't give any suggestion they don't exist anymore (http://www.mecano.net/). Because of this I changed to "is". If it should be "was" please also give at least some details about when they stopped.
According to the Spanish Mecano entry in Wikipedia, the group stopped working together in 1991 and reunited briefly in 1997, in which year they officially broke up. So yes, the group is past history. Anyway, I will change "Former Members" to "Members" because they never left the band while it was still funtioning as Mecano. Lennon, McCartney, Starr, and Harrison are not usually referred to as Beatles former members. Adipatus 03:30, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
I was not able to change "Former Members" to "Members". The edit function did not show me "Former Members"Adipatus 03:45, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Small ℗'s
[edit]What do the small ℗'s in the discography section mean? Copyrighted? There's no need to state that the name of an album is copyrighted on Wikipedia. --Anna Lincoln (talk) 14:35, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
"Ibero-American"?
[edit]Mecano was a Spanish band, none of the members were born or lived in the Americas. Why, then, are they referred to as Ibero-American in the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dialecticas (talk • contribs) 14:32, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
