Discussion about centralization took place at Talk:Binary prefix.
Equivalence
[edit]I'm not sure about the validity of the statement “1 megabit equaled 128 kibibyte; 8 megabits were 1 mebibyte.” I understand it as “1 Mb = 128 KiB; 8 Mb = 1 MiB.” However, it doesn't add up:
- 1 Mb = 1000000 b = 125000 B = 125 kB
- 128 KiB = 131072 B > 1 Mb
- 8 Mb = 8000000 b = 1000000 B = 1 MB
- 1 MiB = 1048576 B > 8 Mb
Could somebody with a better understanding clarify this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by OlivierMehani (talk • contribs) 05:45, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- It's pretty clear that this is meant in the context of binary use of SI prefixes as discussed there. You have to read the entire paragraph. Kbrose (talk) 06:59, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
