Talk:Measles outbreaks in the 21st century
Many references links are dead. ~~anon
Measles is eliminated in the Americas (as per PAHO), and the last endemic case of measles in Canada occurred in 1997. So the 2nd sentence under "Canada" is inaccurate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.0.209.219 (talk) 00:22, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
About Bulgaria, being the epicenter of European contagion 2009-2010
[edit]I would like another source for that information. There are three problems that I have with what is written as
From Bulgaria, the strain was carried to Germany, Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, and other European countries.[14]
1. I can not access the source, maybe this is my problem, I don't like to pay for information, especially when I never heard of the source before;
2. It sounds facto logical, but to me, as a Bulgarian - offensive.
3. In this paper, from Bulgaria's Ministry if Healthcare; written by dr. Lili Rahamimova-Marinova.
You can find it here: http://www.ncipd.org/UserFiles/File/d-r%20Lili%20Marinova/Avtoreferat_LM%2030.07.2012.pdf the researcher states clearly that the infected CAME FROM the countries stated (Germany, Turkey, Greece..). Page 17-18, figure 3 and below. So let's find the truth.
And here is another source of information, that is contrary to what is written: http://www.eurosurveillance.org/ViewArticle.aspx?ArticleId=19259

2010s?
[edit]this doesn't seem to limit itself to just the 00's, since we now have a measles outbreak in Wales. Perhaps a rename or merge is in order (I can't find an article on 2010's outbreaks though...) 128.240.229.68 (talk) 15:14, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
- I agree there's no clear place to write about the Wales outbreak of 2013. I'd suggest renaming this article and continuing to document outbreaks here, rather than arbitrarily splitting by decade. What about Measles outbreaks in the 21st century? Espresso Addict (talk) 14:38, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

New Article
[edit]A new article has been published on Vox.com titled How an Amish missionary caused 2014's massive measles outbreak. It was written by Julia Bellux on January 29th, 2015. The article talks about how the 2014/2015 outbreak of measles in California was caused by an Amish population in Ohio where one person returned infected from the Philippines. The current story is that the outbreak started in Orange County, California at Disneyland. This is a very interesting article and could potentially add some reliable information to your Wikipedia page! You can find the article at this link: http://www.vox.com/2015/1/29/7929791/measles-outbreak-2014. Cheers, Comatmebro ~Come at me~ 16:50, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
