It is my belief that someone has mixed up the histories of Meadows, NC with that of Peacocks Crossroads, NC. John William Wood, Sr. founded Benson, NC in Johnston County and rode there every morning from his home in Meadow (now known as Peacocks Crossroads), not Meadows, which is 130 mi away in Stokes County.
