[edit]Me-Åkernes was originally one single farm, but in 1881 its fields was divided in two halves between two (sieblings) couples, but each couple had their own livestock.
This sentence is not merely clumsy, but might also be misinterpreted. Two sieblings married and formed two families. The two families shared the farm. Help somewhere out there??--Frode Inge Helland 07:58, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
I have to say
[edit]How interesting! Rich Farmbrough, 09:35 1 December 2006 (GMT).
World heritage list considered of local interest
[edit]This article has a tag added because it is considered of just local interest. The farm Åkernes is one of those in the area in Storfjorden (which includes Geirangerfjorden) entered on the UN World Heritage List in 2006. The area is the most sought of by foreign tourists in Norway, and thousands og foreigners is passing these farms, in fact they have come to Norway just to see just that. Of merely local interest? Someone must be joking. --Frode Inge Helland 14:46, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- I had never heard of it. Getting some tourists may not be enough. The south pole gets a few "tourists" too. Should we treat it in the same manner? Where do we stop? If nothing else, you should change "Me-Åkernes eller Middle, Åkernes is a deserted fjord farm in Sunnylvsfjorden (inner part of Storfjorden) between Stranda and Hellesylt, Norway." It would help if the introduction declared the article's notability. The existing text does not in my mind. All it tells me is the location. Fix that I will consent. -Will Pittenger 22:29, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- It may come as a shock to you, but there is a world outside US known to hundred of thousands of Americans. This area is the main target for foreign tourism in Norway. The coastal express route between Bergen and North Cape takes a detour to Geiranger every day, passing theese places. There are more Norwegian descendants in US than there are inhabitants in Norway. It was from theese harsh livings many emigrated to US. So, this is most certainly of interest for some of their descendants. And may be to others also. And keep in mind: The area has been entered on the World Heritage List because of its unique value. It unique value is a not result from being on that list list. --Frode Inge Helland 00:54, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
BTW: At this point, I think you can remove the {{wikify}} tag -- unless you want it to attract some help. In that case though, you might prefer {{expand}}. Will (Talk - contribs) 22:31, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Do what you think is best, Will, but at this point, there is little more information available in this matter. I may contact Storfjordens venner and see what, I can get. To my knowledge no bygdehistoriker (local historian) has started research yet, but I am familiar with the nearest neighbouring locality, Hellesylt, so I can begin to ask around.--Frode Inge Helland 00:54, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
Rather think this is an important article, but needs context
[edit]Rather think this is an important article, but needs context. I'll try to develop a few words to provide that later this weekend. Skål - Williamborg (Bill) 21:07, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you, Bill. You made it shine. --Frode Inge Helland 12:36, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- Always easy to do when there is a core of good material. Tusen takk - Williamborg (Bill) 03:29, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
