Question and comment

Tamnica and Tvrđava are two separate works, yes? The article refers to both of them as "his second novel" and since "Prison" and "Fortress" (and the Fortress in the "The Fortress" book is actually a prison...) mean a similar thing, it's very confusing.

Also, the "Death and the Dervish" is probably the best well known in the west, but compared to the Fortress it's crap. That's not just me speaking but I believe a pretty unanimous opinion among Slavic readers. Of course when Selimovic writes crap it's still better than 99% of anything that's ever been written, including cheesy soap operas of the likes of Shakespeare or Days of Our Lives. I just checked the Serbo-Croatian wikis, and none lists a novel called Tamnica (Prison). It seems when writing, someone was relying on his/her memory and probably wanted to say Tvrđava. The two words after all can be seen as synonyms. MIaceK (woof!) 13:12, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
