McKittrick Canyon could use a section focused on geology. Leaflet (talk) 01:15, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I believe the image gallery guideline should lead us to transwiki the image gallery in this article to Commons. That guideline states that image galleries should only be used in Wikipedia

"if a collection of images can illustrate aspects of a subject that cannot be easily or adequately described by text or individual images. The images in the gallery collectively must have encyclopedic value and add to the reader's understanding of the subject."

It is my belief that multiple landscape images of McKittrick Canyon do not fulfill this guideline, and hence the gallery should reside at Commonshike395 (talk) 06:29, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I say they would be ok if the article and the captions were expanded, but as it stands they do not. On a side note, where does the 411 acres in infobox come from? If it means anything itt has to refer to some unmentioned specific part of the canyon, because there is no way the entire canyon is only 411 acres. Fredlyfish4 (talk) 20:02, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, if the article were longer, then the three photographs, suitably captioned, could be scattered in the text of the article. That is another way to follow the image gallery guidelines. I don't know where the 411 acres came from --- perhaps the NPS? —hike395 (talk) 20:55, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
